Building your Resume Compiling an impressive academic record will not catch the eye of admissions officers if that's all you've done during your undergraduate career. The elements that comprise an attractive resume are the same ones that enhance your law school application materials and make you a stronger candidate for admission. To illustrate this point, think of the sections on a typical resume: objective, education, experience, extracurricular activities, community service, skills, etc. A student with a high GPA who is on a first-name basis with the library staff but who has not taken advantage of employment on or off campus, internships, community service, study or work abroad, student organizations, athletics, and most importantly, leadership opportunities, may not be admitted in favor of a student who has a lower GPA but a more well-rounded resume. A pre-law advisor can help you achieve a balance between a rigorous academic plan and a resume that reflects a variety of undergraduate involvements. |
